Universities & Colleges
Most of the Universities and Colleges which offer computing courses in Scotland are now working with the e-Placement Scotland project to benefit their students. We regularly attend student-facing events held at HEI and FE Colleges to advise on the benefits of paid internships and increase student registrations.
We reach students through attending a number of on-campus events, which include careers events, internship fairs, and in-lecture guest slots. Out of all of these, the guest slots organised by careers staff for computing students in regular timetabled classes have proven to be the best vehicle for reaching students. And thanks to the relationships we’ve developed with course leaders and careers services, these are now the norm.
Student events can also be enriched by including representatives from a number of different businesses giving ‘tech-talks’ and ‘masterclasses’ on emerging technology. These are paired with talks from e-Placement Scotland staff and Student Ambassadors providing information on how best to take advantage of an industrial placement. We’ve found these to be successful in attracting students and they’re appreciated by employers as novel ways of engaging with Universities beyond the typical careers fairs.
Our main aim is to help businesses of all sizes grow by helping them find students who hope to expand their experience and improve their employability.
To be eligible to apply for one of our placements, students must be:
-
Registered at a Scottish University or College
-
