FAQs

Here’s a list of questions that employers frequently ask us. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, then contact us on 01506 472200 or email info@e-placementscotland.com.

How easy is to setup a placement?

We’ve made the process as simple and straightforward as possible. If needed e-Placement Scotland will give you all the help and support you want, including a comprehensive student matching service to help you find the best possible candidates.

How will it be cost-effective for my business?

Instead of taking up valuable time and money to recruit yourself or through an agency, the e-Placement Scotland programme offers you the opportunity to grow your own tried and tested talent at a fraction of the cost.

We ask that students are paid at least the National Living Wage, which means you could have access to some real talent for a very fair price.  Many employers pay more, at their discretion, based on skills and experience - generally up to £20k pro rata.

I don’t have the time to organise a student placement?

The e-Placement team appreciate that your time is in short supply and that is why we'll help you craft the job description to attract the best possible candidates. If you need it, we can also provide support during the selection and interview stage. Plus, we’re always happy to answer any questions you have once the student has started work.

Can any size or type of company be involved?

Yes we encourage all types of employers to offer work placements from SMEs to multinationals. We aim to offer as wide a range of roles to students studying in Scotland as possible.

I can't offer a one year placement - is there any flexibility?

Yes, the e-Placement Scotland programme was set up with employers in mind and we understand that when it comes to business, one size does not fit all. Flexible, part-time, day release, three months or six months - arrangements can be made to suit you as necessary.

How do you promote the placements?

We actively work with Universities and Colleges throughout Scotland to promote placements. We encourage programme leaders, tutors, and careers and placement staff to get the word out to their students. To complement this word of mouth of approach, we also distribute a wide range of promotional material through various channels, including social media, events, poster displays and information packs.

Will I get the kind of student I want?

Our aim is to increase graduate employability and business growth by making the perfect match every time. That’s why e-Placement Scotland works with you every step of the way in making sure we help to prepare the student job description and advert. We’ll also promote the placement through our network of colleges and universities using word of mouth and online channels.
