Maths Week Scotland 2026
24th Jul 2026
Education Scotland are looking for volunteers to take part in a series of webinars which will be live streamed to primary pupils across Scotland during Maths Week Scotland 2026.
This will involve a 30-minute Teams call where Education Scotland colleagues will facilitate a discussion around why “Maths Matters” in your job or industry, followed by an opportunity for children across Scotland to ask questions about your role/industry via the Teams chat function.
Background
Maths Week Scotland is a focused week of events and activities (19 September to 27 September 2026) with a supporting year-round programme of schools programming and resources to foster engagement with maths. It is funded by the Scottish Government and Education Scotland have recently taken over responsibility for delivery. This year’s theme is “Maths Matters” where we aim to show learners where maths is used in a variety of contexts from daily life to specialized industry applications.
Over the last few years, our colleagues at eSgoil have delivered DYW Live sessions as part of the Maths Week Scotland programme. This has included an online assembly for primary school pupils and live interviews with industry partners (hosted online via Microsoft Teams). The interviews have included presentations, pre-recorded videos and even some live footage from site visits – but work equally well as a facilitated discussions without additional digital resources.
