Key Responsibilities and Skills Required
Plan Bee Ltd based in Wishaw, have an exciting position for a student with Web Development and Interactive Media skills, to work with different multimedia features such as, text, sound, graphics, digital photography, 2D/3D modelling, animation and video, all aimed at creating products such as websites or computer programmes. This is a 12 month placement which will provide the successful candidate with an excellent opportunity to gain vital career experience with a fast moving and ethical business.
Project Description
We have a significant business project which requires a student with good Web Development and Interactive Media skills to assist us in making the most of the technology and platforms available. Over the past 2-3 years, we have been quite innovative and clever in how we have exploited this technology but in order to continue to grow our business and raise brand awareness, we now need in-house expertise.
The project will focus on the following technology areas:
- Interactive television
- Information kiosks
- DVDs
- Internet
- CD-ROMs
- Computer games consoles
- Mobile phones
Role Description
Main Tasks:
- Designing graphics, animations and manipulating digital photographs
- Developing interactive design
- Registering web domain names and organising the hosting of the website
- Presenting initial design ideas to the board
- Coding using a variety of software
- Editing basic videos working with different content management systems
- Search engine optimisation
- Meeting relevant legal requirements such as accessibility standards
- Freedom of information and privacy
- Designing the website's visual imagery and ensuring it is in line with company branding policy or the requirements of the client
- Proofreading content and grammar and making changes where necessary
- Editing content, debugging code and re-designing web pages
- Working with other web specialists including web developers and graphic designers
- Liaising with outside agencies
- Testing the website to ensure it is working
- Handing the completed website over to the client
- Post-technical support; training staff
- Researching current design trends
- Continual professional development to keep up to date with new software developments
Essential Skills & Aptitudes
- Creative and Practical thinker
- Knowledge of design programs such as InDesign, QuarkXPress, FreeHand, Illustrator, Photoshop, 3ds Max, Acrobat, Director, Dreamweaver and Flash
- Confident personality
- Video/Animation experience
