A Summer 2019 Internship with BBOXX, an opportunity to change the world.
BBOXX designs, manufactures, distributes and finances innovative plug & play utility systems to improve access to energy across Africa and the developing world.
Our 2 options for Summer Internships start from the end of March (6 months internships) and the end of June (2-3 month internships)
During this time you will have strong support from your line manager and extended team. Plus regular “check-ins” with your fellow interns.
You will have the opportunity to work on personal development, your study subject and exciting BBOXX projects.
During the internship we will work with you to consider future opportunities at BBOXX once you have finished your studies.

About the role
The hardware team at BBOXX are responsible for full end to end hardware development. The team have successfully launched several products and have 100K+ units already in the field.
The firmware engineers write RTOS based modern embedded SW to ensure our products are highly connective - measuring and monitoring our products state of health and usage.
You will work alongside embedded software engineers, hardware engineers, support and backend web developers to add product features & support functions.

REQUIREMENTS
Applicants: Software Engineering / Hardware Engineering background (with a focus on Software)
About You
- Experience in programming in C and Python
- Solid understand of design patterns and software paradigms (OO, MVC etc)
- Understanding of embedded systems (serial I/O, registers etc)
- Fundamental understanding of testing embedded systems (scopes, meters)
- Good understanding of git or equivalent
- Solid communication skills both oral and written
- Understanding in IoT platforms, Bluetooth and cellular connectivity are a plus
