Graphic Designer - Industrial Placement (3-6 months), Dalgety Bay, June 2017

About the Role

The main scope of the placement is to support various teams within Exterity (Marketing, Engineering, Sales and Product Management) in the creation of digital content, software application user interfaces and other visual communications. Key project areas include:

•    Source and build a library of suitable photographic and video content for demo purposes, representing a range of industries and associated services
•    Design and develop customer-friendly navigation interfaces for TV/Mobile/Desktop - from sourcing/creating graphical assets and icons to completed interfaces (portals) for demo purposes and, potentially, end customers
•    Develop digital signage examples - including a library of core graphical elements that can be used to create signage screens for a variety of industries (e.g., education, corporate, venues, hospitality, etc.) 
•    Build a library of international TV Channel icons for internal/demo use

About You 

The requirements of this role will ideally suit a 3rd or 4th year student in Graphic Design, Graphic Communications or Digital Media, with a keen eye for detail, creative flair and a passion for impactful communications and customer-friendly user experience. The candidate should bring strong technical ability in core graphic design tools, including Adobe Create Suite, and a professional approach to meeting design briefs and team collaboration.

Core skills
•    Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat Professional)
•    Basic HTML/CSS
•    Good insight, knowledge and understanding of creative design across a range of media types and communication channels
•    Demonstrate strong understanding of colour, layout, typography and the power of good design to communicate
•    Some experience in video design and production would be an advantage but not essential
•    Interest in and some exposure to intuitive user interface and UX design
•    Comfortable working on PC
•    Ability to quickly pick up and use new technology/software applications
