Developer Internship, East Kilbride, Summer 2018
About the role
Traveltek is currently pursuing an aggressive global expansion strategy. The East Kilbride-headquartered firm, which also has offices in the Midlands, Sydney, Miami, Dubai, Hyderabad, Singapore and Hong Kong is looking to strengthen its market share in existing locations and establish a presence in new growing markets.
Traveltek is able to offer several paid, 12-week, summer internships.
The interns will take on a programming role involving developing software in Perl, Python and/or Javascript to meet specific project goals. Projects may include data visualisation, booking/customer report generation, integration with remote XML API's, content parsing, data manipulation, and/or all of the above! Projects will be challenging both mentally and creatively.

What the intern will get out of the experience:
We are a fast moving company, with millions of lines of code, hundreds of customers, and new technical challenges every day. Interns will gain insight into how to work as part of a team, how to work with code and manage changes in an always changing environment, growing their commercial programming experience, and helping to change the worldwide travel market.
On the job training will be provided to the interns on our platform and how it all fits together, which will give an insight into how a large web application works. Advice and guidance will also be provided on the assigned project, where programming skills can be improved through the act of actually programming, rather than sitting in a classroom
Required Year of Study: Undergraduate year 2 and 3
Required Degree Subject: Computer Science or Software Engineering
Person Requirements:
Traveltek Ltd is looking for candidates that meet the following essential and desirable criteria:
Essential
- E1 Knowledge of Python, Perl and/or Javascript.
- E2 Experience with MySQL, with good knowledge of relational database design.
- E3 Great communication skills, both verbal and written.
Desirable
- D1 Strong with Linux command line fu.
