Web developer – Summer internship - Glasgow 
COMPANY BACKGROUND
Klik2learn is a Glasgow-based award -winning Edtech company specialising in software for English language learning.
The company has built up a highly skilled team of young developers and designers who are experienced in creating appealing content for today’s digital natives including games and simulations. We are based at Clockwise in central Glasgow and hybrid working can be arranged by mutual consent.
The Klik2learn has established a market niche in the global ELT industry is as a provider of digital first, interactive, multimedia learning which enables learners to achieve a valuable accredited qualification from City & Guilds. The company’s proprietary learning Management System: the Digital Learning Hub hosts the core products, 100s of hours of e learning from pre-beginner to upper intermediate and a suite of collaboration tools. It has been endorsed by the SQA, City & Guilds and the CPD Certification Service. The core products are supported by a multi-level test –‘The English Skills Test.’ In response to market demand, the company is now launching a new program to support the mandatory Occupational English Test, aimed at supporting non –native healthcare professionals to gain employment in the NHS.
The company sells mainly B2B to colleges, councils and overseas through a network of distributors and specialises in supporting migrant populations entering the UK. We are now entering the Indian K-12 market at state government level and the Hong Kong BTEC market supporting Pearson qualifications.
We are looking for a web developer to contribute to the success of our products by delivering and maintaining our high-quality software. Although experience with React would be a distinct advantage, the motivation to learn and develop new skills is more important than knowledge of specific languages. A proven track record in being able to adopt new skills quickly will be an advantageous as will the willingness to collaborate with other members of the team.
THE ROLE
This is an opportunity to join an ambitious ‘Tech For Good’ Edtech company with a strong record in developing innovative products encompassing equality, diversity and inclusion. You will be part of a strong development and creative team under the supervision of the CTO. Ideally, you will be working towards a degree in Computer Science and have a keen interest in UX.
Working within our dev team, the role will include building new products using React JS, adding additional functionality to our LMS using PHP and assisting in building custom integrations and plugins.
ABOUT YOU
Some experience developing applications using React and Typescript with a good working knowledge of functional programming in JS would be an advantage as would experience with PHP and Object Orientated Programming.
Desirable
- Experience in creating robust and maintainable code, including creating and maintaining unit tests for front-end applications
- Proficient in Git version control and CI/CD tools
- A keen eye for detail in all aspects of your coding
- A passion for all things coding and creating high-quality products

- A series of simulations for the medical profession
- A course on employability skills
- An app to analyse pronunciation skills
- A data analytics project
