Assistant Systems Technician, 12 months, Inverness, June 2016

Location – Raigmore Hospital, Inverness

This is a 12 month placement for a student in their penultimate year studying a IT related discipline.  You will work as an Assistant Systems Technician in the eHealth department of one of the largest and most diversely populated Health Boards in the UK, NHS Highland. We are looking for a student to start in the summer who is enthusiastic about sharing knowledge and learning new skills within a public sector setting.  You will be expected to undertake database administration across the application environment, assist with the quality assurance of new software releases and planning the roll out of these releases to the users.  You will also be required to provide a resolution service to the Support Team for complex and unforeseen problems.

The projects/tasks will be varied and you will be given a mentor from the wider department allowing you to gain a broad understanding of the eHealth function. 

This position is located in Inverness, the capital of the Highlands.  Inverness is the most northerly city in Scotland with a population of around 60,000 and is a vibrant and cultural place to live.  Additionally there are many sports and social opportunities and a thriving night life in Inverness. 

In terms of education, The University of the Highlands and Islands has its main campus and headquarters here and is therefore a key centre for learning.
