About the Opportunity
IES is currently looking for computer science students keen to gain work experience with a world leading software company. The role is fully paid and runs for a minimum of 3 months during June to September. The position is full time, working hours are 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. This is a great opportunity to experience working within a busy and supportive team in an organisation which is at the cutting edge of software development.
You will work within our software team who are developing code for advanced physical simulation and visual analyses of lighting, power consumption and carbon emissions. Candidates will also be able to participate in a number of exciting projects.
As an intern in our Development team you’ll be assigned a mentor who will introduce you to our code, software and coding standards. You will have the opportunity to participate in a number of exciting projects including, improving, testing and maintaining our current software and bug fixing. You will participate in peer reviews which will enable you to learn from experienced developers.
About you
Skills and qualification include the following:
- Studying for a degree in computer science, computer games technology or related degree. Ideally candidates will have completed the third year of their degree and be moving into their final year following the placement. Any previous industry experience is beneficial
- Passion for coding with experience of writing code in at least one of the following and some familiarity with another; C++/JavaScript/C#/ASP.NET/CSS/HTML 5.0/Python
- Familiarity with Qt
- Excellent communication skills and a creative approach to problem solving
- Ability to work as part of a team under an AGILE methodology structure
