Graphic UI Design Intern, Glasgow, 3-12 months, 2018

About

Phlo is a digital health startup getting ready to launch the future of pharmacy across the UK. Phlo offers real-time repeat prescription delivery to your home or workplace, simply by using our mobile app.

We understand the importance of good design and want to show this to our customers by implementing good design. We are looking to take on a Graphic Design Intern to undertake a User Interface (UI) Redesign project of our iOS and (soon) Android Mobile App. We are looking for someone that is keen to express their creativity whilst working within parameters. Constantly iterating various designs based on team feedback as they are reviewed.

This is an opportunity for a successful candidate to play a key role in shaping the design of a professional application and an excellent project to add to a portfolio.

  • Work consistently with product manager, marketing and dev team.
  • Take responsibility to understand industry best practises.
  • Illustrate and design app elements (layouts, templates etc.)
  • Create and Develop concepts for app, website, and marketing pieces.
  • Create graphical elements and visuals in accordance with company brand guidelines.
  • Conduct research on user requirements, design trends, and developments in tech in order to provide higher quality of user experience
  • Contribute to overall UX/UI design guide
  • Build wireframe prototypes and mock-ups using Sketch, Invision and any other relevant programs etc.

Requirements

  • Ideal degree/qualification: Visual Communication, Graphic or Web Design, or a related field, etc.
  • Design portfolio/examples of work demonstrating strong design skills (creativity, typography, layout etc.)
  • Experience or knowledge of current web standards (e.g. HTML, CSS, web browser capabilities).
  • Knowledge of current markup or scripting languages would be beneficial (e.g. HTML, CSS, and JavaScript).
  • Experience with Sketch App on Mac.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (XD, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand user needs and provide creative solutions.
  • Experience with or knowledge of web content management systems a plus.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
  • Keen interest in the Start-up environment and contributing where possible outwith specific role description.
