About the company

Canon Medical Research Ltd are now looking for students or recent graduates who would like to be considered for a 3-month paid Internship between June and September 2021. Applications are welcomed from undergraduates in the latter stages of their study and on course to achieve 2:1 or higher. We have been recognised for our internship programme by featuring in the Rate My Placement Top 10 Small to Medium-sized Undergraduate Employers list from 2018 to 2021.

About the role

Clinical interns may work with multi-modality data within the context of clinical decision support (CDS) systems that are used by clinicians to aid decision-making for diagnostic or management purposes. The project scope will include review and evaluation of how best to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) within CDS systems. There will also be an element of UI/UX in relation to AI-derived information presentation.

About you

Applicants should have some medical or biomedical knowledge that they are keen to build on, and should be analytical with good attention to detail. Any additional experience with CDS systems or design is a bonus but not an expectation. Similarly, knowledge of or an interest in UI/UX will be beneficial.

Closing date for all applications for the Summer Internship Programme is Sunday 7th February 2021. Following the closing date, a shortlist will be drawn up and successful candidates contacted to proceed to the next stage of the recruitment process.

The placements are planned to commence on Tuesday 1st June 2021, although there is flexibility in this. Given the ongoing global pandemic, some of the internship positions may be remote.  Please detail in the application form if you have a preference on remote/office working and advise your current location.
